What will you learn on this course?

You will learn the history and Cosmology of Shamanism, how to take a Shamanic Journey, Call in the Directions, Setup an altar, the Shamanic use of the drum and rattle and how to do Ritual and Ceremony. 

 

How will the course work?

This course will guide you in the Way of the Shaman over 5 lectures, guided experiential journeys, curated reading and documentary lists, an online community hub where all students can interact. There are also two Q&A Sessions that were recorded live addressing people's questions about different aspects of the course. Once you purchase the course, you will receive an email with a link to a Private Page on the Website where you will have unlimited access to the course, recommended reading and documentary films. We have included a thirty minute drumming session for the Shamanic  Journey that we recommend after each module.​

About Martin Duffy

Martin Duffy is one of the leading voices on Shamanism in the world today having worked as a mental health professional for over 35 years. He is an accredited Jungian, Transpersonal and Humanistic Psychotherapist. He has trained with Indigenous Shaman’s in the Amazon, Andes, South Africa, Mexico and Mongolia. He has also trained with Stanislav Grof as a Holotropic Breathwork facilitator and Transpersonal Therapist. Martin’s work is heavily influenced by the Druidic traditions of ancient Ireland. He comes from a lineage of traditional Folk Healers following in the footsteps of his mother and grandfather. He has been the director of The Irish Centre for Shamanic Studies for over 24 years.

 

COSMOLOGY AND HISTORY OF SHAMANISM

The first module describes the healing modalities of the shaman such as: 

• History and cosmology of Shamanism

• Power loss and power animal retrieval

• What are psychic intrusions and how to extract them

• Soul Loss and soul retrieval. 

• Death and Re-birth

• The psychopomp work of the shaman (escorting souls from life into the afterlife)

• The Otherworld, The Spirit World, and the Dreamtime. 

• Druidry and Celtic Shamanism

THE ARCHAIC TECHNIQUES OF ECSTASY-NON ORDINARY STATES OF CONSIOUSNESS

The second module includes discussion of ancient wisdom for modern medicine:

• The Wounded Healer:The Archetype of Chiron 

• Shamanism from a Jungian Perspective-Active imagination, Dreamwork, Archetypes.

• Holotropic/Shamanic Breathwork.

• The Healing Potential of Imagery, Visualisation and Dreams  

• Transpersonal Theory, Psychedelics and Plant Medicine 

• How to access the Numinous and Sacred as a way of re-enchanting everyday life. 

• Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy and Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness

 

SOUL LOSS AND SOUL RETRIEVAL

The third module includes the discussion of Soul Loss and Soul Retrieval:

• Care of the Soul

• Stalking Awareness in Nature

• Soul loss as a Survival strategy 

• Techniques for tracking and retrieving soul parts

• How soul loss takes place and the symptoms of soul loss

• How to do a soul retrieval(Finding the soul part and returning it to the person)

• What to do after soul parts are returned

 

 

DEATH, RE-BIRTH AND THE AFTERLIFE

The fourth module includes discussion on Death, Re-birth and Psychopomp Work 

• Embracing the positive healing benefits of making death your Ally and Teacher for Life

• Psychopomp work of the shaman as an Escorter of the souls from life into afterlife

• How to become familiar with the places we go to after we die

• How to escort souls from life into the afterlife

• How to sit with people who are dying in a loving and compassionate way

• The cosmology of death in different cultures and traditions

 

 

EXPERIENTIAL MODULE

The fifth module is an experiential demonstration of the Elements of Shamanism:

• Calling in the Spirits and the Six Directions 

• The importance of the Altar and how to set it up

• Ritual and Ceremony 

• The use of the Shamanic Drum and Rattle

• How to take a Shamanic Journey 

• We will take a Live Shamanic Journey using Shamanic Drumming

• Integrating the Information, Wisdom, Healing from the Shamanic Journey 

• The Spirit Boat, Healing Circle and Distance Healing

• Celtic Shamanism and Druidry

There are two Q&A Sessions that were recorded live addressing people's questions about different aspects of the course.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR:

This Course is suitable for people new to Shamanism who want a theoretical, experiential and practical overview of Shamanic Cosmology and History. The course will also benefit Shamanic Practitioners who want to review, revise and re-visit what they have learned on their Shamanic Practitioners Course.
